The latest vice-3.3.0 for MX-17/18 is now in test. Some assembly required. It appears to be CLI only and several arguments need to be strung together to get it to actually play a ROM. Time to get out the shovel.

Hi there, not sure if this is the proper thread or not, but trying to install retroarch to play some old games that I have. I have tried installing using apt-get install retroarch, and it installs fine but is a rather old version and the keyboard and the Logitech F310 controller that I am using are not working. I tried following the steps outlined on the retroarch website to install the latest build of retroarch but I get hit with the following when I try to add the repository:
sudo: add-apt-repository: command not found
If anyone has any ideas on how to get the latest version to download and install, it would be greatly appreciated.

I tried the above and now get the following error:

(self.id, self.codename))
aptsources.distro.NoDistroTemplateException: Error: could not find a distribution template for MX/Continuum
Still not sure how to manually enter whatever into a sources.list file to try and correct it.

Hi there, not sure if this is the proper thread or not
To request new or updated software packages be added to the MX Repositories, please read
these instructions. then post your request
here. Then request that the particular package that you want be added to the MX Repos (after first looking to see if it might already be there, of course.)
BTW retroarch 1.7.3 is in the test repo. If you need a newer version please request it in the abovementioned forum, including a link to where it can be found. (There's also a flatpak but I don't know what version it is and I'm not going to install it to try to find out.)

Thank you. I will try the test repo. I know the latest version on the website is 1.7.8. Again Thanks for the help, it is much appreciated.
*EDIT*
That worked, thank you so much.

If 1.7.3 doesn't work for you, uninstall it then install the one from the flatpaks tab in MX Package Installer. It might be 1.7.8.

Please edit your original post #1 (via the pencil icon at the top right) and add "[SOLVED]" to its subject. This makes it easier for others when they're searching the forum looking for solutions to the same question or problem. Thanks.
Edit: never mind, Mondays again. You can't marked the topic as solved because it wasn't your original topic to begin with.
