I'll set MX up again, and will try lutris as a flatpack. I really don't know why it's causing so much grief on this machine.
It's not even about gaming, its just the setting up to be able to select something to be installed.

reinstalled my system, this time with the AHS version.
kept my user
used lutris as flatplak

So far, adding all accounts (or sources) worked the first time.
Haven't tried any game yet, and this will probably take ages before I even thing about that :D You know how life is
