Evolution mail client not updating

I'm on MX19

Evolution new emails do show up in the inbox, but older emails which were deleted or filed away (via the webmail) are still listed on Evolution inbox.

I did uninstall and re-install apt get evolution and got the same version 3.30.5, same problem.

I wonder is there a later version on MX21?

We need some more data than this to determine that.

What version do you have installed, for one.

I see in Synaptic that 3.38.3-1 is the latest one. No newer one in the test repo.

I've 3.30.5 installed. It's odd you say Synaptic shows 3.38.3, the Synaptic I open from MX19 shows 3.30.5. I suppose that could be the problem.

I am on 3.44.1 having installed the flatpack, after having had a bunch of proglems with gmail/google contacts and calendar with the default package. Everything now works great for me

FWIW am on a number of OS reinstalls, and seemed to need a clean system to get on the latest update branch.

Thanks,
that looks like the business. I am not familiar with flatpacks, never installed one before, hopefully I'll find out.
I'm using Tbird meantime, it works fine, I just don't like the look of it. I think I'll upgrade to MX21 when I've time, then tackle Evolution 3.44

Had never done so either, but the way I managed it In MX 21 was simply via the standard package installer. Last tab has an option to install flatpacks! Must admit it's all a bit of a black box to me, but working just fine 😀

I finally installed MX21.2 and have installed Evolution 3.44.4 from MX Flatpacks repo - just as easy as any other install from MX installer.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I would also like to change to version 3.44.4 from the MX flatpak repo, but I have the problem that I do not know how I then integrate the program into my dark theme.
I use Greybird-Dark as theme and then it doesn't look so great when a program has a light theme.

Maybe someone has an idea how I can solve this.

Thanks in advance.

Themes of flatpak apps not matching the system theme is a known issue with flatpaks.

Newer builds of GNOME apps like Evolution very often require a whole new version of GNOME; something's that impracticable on stable Debian-based distros. I'll look at if it can be backported, but GNOME devs are infamous for this--they just point users to flatpaks.
