I figured not being on here for a year and a half .... I get a lot of people with that thread title.

I may not have been on here in awhile but I've been using MX daily for everything outside of my employer required Windows garbage I've had to do.

Very excited to get my hands on MX-19 beta!

Out of interest SwampRabbit, amongst the Windows programs you have to use, is there anything that you could not do as well with Linux software, if you had the freedom to use MX at work instead?

Well, outside of the fact that it is a company laptop that I can't play with, not really. Someone can do everything and more in MX Linux and Linux in general.

Maybe MS Office compatibility (formatting, etc, etc) not being that great with LibreOffice is about it, I have to use Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio constantly. I attempted to strictly use the browser based Office 365 to do the work instead from a specific MX laptop for work, but the real problem then became not being able to work on it offline then re upload it without getting messed up.

Showing up at a client and a briefing slide deck being jacked up from incompatibility doesn't help a week long trip start well.

technically as long as you have open-format-compatibility (non-free but generally more popular) , you should have no problem . i myself use MX at work .

i must say it here , the only thing bad about MX is , it spoils me rotten . so much so the linux mentor that makes me choose mx instead of mint told me to try minimal-install-devuan . the OS wonderful , the community wonderful , the ideals too are wonderful .

It's a perfectly boring distro. No issues, no problems to solve, no interruptions to deal with the OS in the middle of my work. Boorrrrrinnnnng. That's exactly what I need!

All my college coursework (so far) has been done in LibreOffice, saved in Microsoft format and/or pdf file format to fully retain my special formatting, including the awesome selection of wicked-kewl fonts available in MX!

He's still involved in development but too busy to visit the forum much.

No worries at all, I figured as much especially with both antiX and MX.

Just wanted to see how the PC he built before I went on my hiatus, is still holding up for him, it would make me feel good to know something I helped him with is still being put to good use.

MX Linux & antiX aren't that good of distros < because they are boring and don't break and I don't have to do anything, my time is boring and everything configured, no need to search Google for any problems and forum is so helpful >
