Trying to get the nvidia card video output instead of AMD

#1 Post by ph3arr3t »

I think I have also strayed into the weeds and would like some help..plz
This is after a fresh reload and just trying to get the nvidia card video output instead of AMD

default repo 535.247.01-1-deb12u1
repo-current 550.163.01 is not installed
installed ver 550.163.01-1~mx23ahs
test repo 550.163.01-1-mx23ahs
nvidia site NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-575.64.05.run

latest from website states can't install due to prior installation
prior (MX) states it's not installed due to dependencies from -deb12u1
-deb12u1 version states it's not installable.

to try and add features to current installation faults claiming dkms error 1
- almost like 550.163.01-1~mx23ahs is dependent on 550.163.01-1~deb12u1
but mx23ahs can't see / incompatible with -deb12u1

eg. nvidia-alternative Repo Ver. 535.247.01.1-deb12u1 Install Ver. 550.163.01.1-mx23ahs
Basically how do I correct the version conflicts? And how to avoid a recurrence ?

@ph3arr3t Please start your own topic next time, do not tack onto other peoples' topics, thank you.

Your topic is here.

The current 550 AHS nvidia-driver is incompatible with a 6.15 kernel and will not build for it. We don't have 6.15 kernels in AHS main for that reason. Please revert to a 6.14 kernel and it will work. Also provide a full QSI...your hardware, from what little we can see, it very much like my Dell laptop.
MXPI = MX Package Installer
QSI = Quick System Info from menu
The MX Test repository is mostly backports; not the same as Debian testing

@Stevo Sorry I keep forgetting that first part. And thanks for the guidance.
@Eadwine Rose Still haven't quite figured out this forum thing, I was under the impression I was supposed to tack onto an existing issue. So I take it the issue has to be open ? If so, sorry again. I will keep trying to do better..

1. Please follow these instructions to post your QSI. The Quick System Info (QSI) utility is located in MX Tools and its output is automatically formatted for use here in the forum. Run the QSI utility, click “Copy for Forum” at the bottom and then just paste it here in your thread.

2. Even in a forum with our reach, it's very rare for two members to have the exact same equipment. Your problem may seem similar, but the differing platforms can require varied solutions. When a member tacks on to an existing topic, it can get very confusing when we are trying to formulate responses. This is why we insist that posters always start their own topics.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.
