First, I'll start by apologizing for posting this, here. I thought I could start here, and get some ideas. Has anyone here successfully installed and run UMS on an MX 23 installation? I have it running successfully on an MX 21 installation, but when I repeat the exact same process in MX 23, I can't get it to work, I don't know what's different. Thank you.

Yep, UMS works fine for me.
I am using the latest free version, 14.8.0. Since some time there is no longer a separate interface UI, it all goes via a web interface.
As I am sure you know, there are config files in your home directory. Old config and database files should be deleted, Then of course most files are in the /opt dir. Check that the files in /opt are executable.
Typically with UMS is is easy to forget one of the steps - there is an instruction on how to install UMS on Ubuntu which works for MX as well, noting that your version of MX may not use systemd.
Should also be some log files in your home dir.

MX Linux 23 has the firewall enabled by default. MX Linux 21 did not. A quick look at the UMS documents shows that port 5001 is used. Try temporarily disabling the firewall and see if the situation improves.
Can you expand on " I can't get it to work" for others to assist? Also per forum rules please post your Quick System Info aka QSI.

Thank you for pointing me to the firewall. I had no clue. I disabled it, and UMS now recognizes my renderer. I'm really dumb, when it comes to Linux. Thank you again. This was keeping me from fully migrating from MX21, which will be depreciated this year. Now I got this, I could probably re-enable the firewall, and just create an exception, for UMS.
