Could not ./configure "Sli3r"

#1 Post by mattdebauge »

Hi,

I downloaded older verson Slic3r because new version won't load after installed via terminal (nala install slic3r). I deleted slic3r then downloaded older version from Slic3r site. Ran terminal and tried to install. No luck. I did with 'old' slic3r just before new release. Same issue...

here what I did

tar xvfz slic3r-linux-x86_64-1-1-7-stable.tar.gz OR tar -xzf slic3r-linux-x86_64-1-1-7-stable.tar.gz works both way.. Did unzipped file to Downloads as Slic3r

$ cd Slic3r
Catty@mx:~/Downloads/Slic3r
$ ./configure
bash: ./configure: No such file or directory
Catty@mx:~/Downloads/Slic3r
$

What give!? Cannot ./configure

Just FYI

Thanks!

The repo version also needs a lot of recommended packages to work correctly, especially with the GUI. You can enable that easily in MXPI, or with a little research if you prefer the terminal.
MXPI = MX Package Installer
QSI = Quick System Info from menu
The MX Test repository is mostly backports; not the same as Debian testing

I was able to run Slic3r similar to appimage ( I downloaded appimage and it didn't work after I checkmarked as "allow this file to run as a program".. I downloaded Slicer.targz then unzipped thru terminal... In downloads, on Slic3r folder, I navigated to Slic3r/bin/ folder and find slic3r with "gear" icon. I right clicked it then property and checked marked to run as program..

It worked but that's if I need to use it.

I downloaded slic3r thru MX Package Installer--Enabled Repos then
I tried to run slic3r in terminal "slic3r --gui", nothing happened.

Will figure it out what Timkb4cq suggested me to..

Thanks

In MXPI, check off the box to also install recommended packages...or did you try this and it did not work?

I did look for it and it seem I don't have "recommended Package" It sound like it's for Raspberry pi OS (Debian). I checked MX Package installer and indeed it have Slic3r software. Just installed and ran it. It apparently an old Slic3r. I can always configure it. I just posted question abou Appimag issue on MX Respin. Hope someone will tell me what I need to do to fix it.
Thankyou

I apologize, that particular setting in in MX tool "Tweak", under the "Other" tab.

Slic3r 1.3.0 is the current release, same as in Bookworm's repos.

Do you know if prusa-slicer could work for you? https://packages.debian.org/bookworm/prusa-slicer
