Image file previews have wrong aspect ratio and are cropped

Hi, trying to get plasma to display image thumbnails in the same format as the original image. For example, if the image has a 1:1 aspect ratio plasma is displaying only part of the image in a 2:1 (maybe 16:9?) aspect ratio. The top of the photo is zoomed in and does not display all the way to every edge. In other cases it rotates the thumbnail displaying it in a 1:2 aspect ratio with the same issues.

How can I adjust plasma to show previews of images (jpg) in their original aspect ratio without cropping such that the preview thumbnail shows all of the original image?

I'm going to suggest try changing your icons, try a few and see if that makes any changes as to reboot or not reboot that's an open Q
A search of http://www.linux-databook.info/download ... _guide.pdf found nothing of use for this problem.

Thanks for the reply. Not sure what you mean about changing icons but I guess that whatever the KDE team is doing with the previews isn't configurable. It is a real drag that something this simple is going to make an entire desktop environment impractical for my purposes, but it isn't too surprising as they make a lot of weird decisions based on what is important to the individual developer working on any particular issue. So far on this preview issue I have found a comment by the dev that it is set this way because he thinks it looks better.

Changing the icons used can and has done solved some display issues worth a try, and yeah can be a KDE thing.
