thought I would try latest MX23 - the 1st 'annoyance' is how to I get rid of the large clock overlay on the background image (I always change this to one of my own photos) - the battery indicator is likewise very annoying - I can't see the mechanism to remove them.

I may need to ditch MX23 as I have a network of older machines that run software still required but no longer supported and MX23 breaks any communication - this may be fixable tho

MX 23 installs with the Firewall turned on, so if your having trouble with communication on the network, that is the first place to start. (ie turn the firewall off if your in a safe environment and then check communication.)

and if that is not the 'communication' your talking about, please define.

yes - found it - catch is I'd never used Cronky so it hadn't twigged - it was easily fixed - but the failure of Samba within my network meant I just ditched it as was only a tryout - however having now got hold of a RPi 5 and disliking the Ubuntu offering the MX 23 respin for RPi5 looks to be what I want (once I get rid of all google nasties) but I need to use Samba to communicate with other old machines (a mix of non-Windoze machines) and I could do with a steer as to how to fix the firewall that has been inserted in MX23
