when I open Synaptic using the tray icon of the Updater, look for something (no matter, what...) and close Synaptic again, the icon of the updater instantly disappears.
How can I fix this, please?
Maybe, I should add, that I'm using Compiz, not sure, if that's of any relevance.

Indeed, this issue seems to be related to Compiz, as it doesn't happen with the ordinary xfwm4 window manager.
