Sounds like a candidate for an Ig Nobel award.

Actually, I was just thinking about this subject last night (without the AI), it's a little like the Doctor DoLittle "mystery".
We're somewhat evolutionarily and genetically programmed to communicate with each other (this forum as an example), they (chickens) are genetically programmed to communicate with each other. Regarding any attempted communication between the two separate species, if one of the species (or each) attempt to communicate to the other species (I do), all that either species can naturally/inherently do is make what appears to be gibberish, but I do not simply attribute all of this to simple anthropomorphism. There's so many evolutionary and genetic similarities (not to mention the background) between many species – anyway, I wonder if I could win an lg nobel award - or if it would be considered plagiarism - if I invented the covid mask that converts to a Bra, instead of the previous lg nobel award of a Bra that converts to a covid mask!

Some people will do anything to get their 5 minutes of fame, even if it's a rather daft thing and for my personal opinion, I think the term AI is thrashed today.

The term smarter than humans is also way overstated. Simply having over 300 levels deep of yes/no gates and being able to select a response that mimicks human expression is not AI, it's just really fast computing that has massive power supply requirements and it generates an enormous volume of heat. The average person has no idea whatsoever about how immense a server farms ability is to crunch numbers is, however all of that pales into insignificance when you consider the human brain runs on next to nothing, operates at 37°c and is capable of much more complex computations when trained to do so. Our storage capacity is phenominal, but our diets and lifestyles are not conducive to making full use of all we've been given, however, without us, these mega servers assemblies and farms would not exist. It is my firm belief we can not create something greater than ourselves.

As I said earlier, I asked https://you.com/ a theological question and it crapped it's pants.

But when I asked https://tusksearch.com/ (Gipper AI) the same question, it crapped in my pants and spieled agenda driven rhetoric with no critical thinking whatsoever.

I thought that Google's devisive echo-chamber analytics encouraging societal niches (more flat earthers) were doing a disservice to the world but it pales in comparison to this. Devisiveness is generally bad to horrendous, no matter what side of the coin you prefer.
AI – it's tech, intelligent, and instilled indoctrination is easier than thinking – it's also going to be used as the new inculcating enlighted tool of propaganda.

Cheers! :p

Yeah, much as I agree with MXRobo, we might be venturing a bit close to the edge of potential political issues, so maybe its time to step back a bit and keep to the subject purpose.
I'm not sure I'd call AI Intellignt, even though the word intelligence forms part of its title. It's just the next-gen search engine, which is designed to take more than it gives while providing a semblance of personality.

@MXRobo

Not knowing or delving into using AI, no clue what you links were, Thanks BUT no thanks don't use AI stuff intentionally.

and then . . .

m_pav and others, I realized that the context of one of my statements could be political, so that's why I added:
Devisiveness is generally bad to horrendous, no matter what side of the coin you prefer.
as my main point was the agenda driven analytics and the echo-chambered devisive of the powerful items, e.g Google, etc. as per "The Social Dilemna."

Just saying  - Cheers All!

Like pretty much anything... AI can and will do some good things. (if you ever wanted to write something and needed some help doing that... AI ROCKS! )

However, the flip side of this is what decision making with out moral, feelings or "personal guidance" can do. Couple this with different culture, or stripped of humanity... and I fear you have a beast of bad.

Like so much in this world... there are some people that will use good things for bad purposes.. and THAT is where things derail quite quickly. ( in my opinion )

I just came across this story yesterday. It's one thing to be bullied online as a kid but this takes it to a whole new level.

I saw that article and yes we are entering a whole new level where AI can produce fakes (voice as well as pictures) and there we are.

I read some place that spam / phishing email and ads had risen by 1200% and they were saying (right or wrong) that AI was the cause. And some of the emails / ads were SO good that a regular person would never be able to tell it was faked.

Human beings create stuff better than themselves all the time. I think they call it children but I'm not too sure as I've never met one I could call my own. "Gippr, get over here!". AI is simply an extension of the physical body and really not anything more. A tool like any other. Calling it intelligent is deception at the very least. Fraud is more apropos. man worshiping man. But I won't speak further.

I guess one of the things that AI has done is give access for any person any age (that news link) it seems to dig into, use and explore (exploit) the good or bad moral compass that they have.
Makes me very concerned for my grandchildren.

It can seem that way but it's the humans controlling the application of AI that's making AI look stupid and/or evil after all.
Wasn't AI without any skills or knowledge (good and/or bad) when it first started to crawl. ?

I have wallpapers on rotating slideshow every few hours and one that popped up long time not seen this wallpaper is a quote.

I think it seems appropriate given the discussion .

HUMANS
We Need Not Worry So Much
About What Man Descends From,
It's What He Descends To
That Shames The Human Race.
(Mark Twain)

@m_pav :

I love your point:
The term smarter than humans is also way overstated. Simply having over 300 levels deep of yes/no gates and being able to select a response that mimicks human expression is not AI, it's just really fast computing that has massive power supply requirements and it generates an enormous volume of heat.
I have no skin-in-the-game, and am just a curious, casual follower of this stuff, and have only last week tried ChatGPT (asking "it" to describe Python Dataclasses). Anyway...regarding your point, today I happened to come across an article entitled "We built a nanotechnology ‘brain’ from tiny silver wires", which can be found here:

https://cosmosmagazine.com/technology/w ... 43a878af00

The full, free (Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License), downloadable (PDF) article (published online Nov. 1, 2023) can be found here:

Online dynamical learning and sequence memory with neuromorphic nanowire networks

Like I said, no skin-in-the-game, meaning, I am neither arguing for, nor against, but as a very casual follower, I see that this stuff is coming (if not here already), whether we like it or not.

To your point about the vast amount of energy used in these AI farms, it seems that the authors of the above article imply (at least) that their model will use (much?) less energy (see page 8 of the original, PDF version, of the article -- I added "...footnote..."):
Beyond physical RC, unconventional physical systems like NWNs
could potentially be trained with backpropagation to realise more
energy-efficient machine learning than is currently possible with
existing software and hardware accelerator approaches. (My Edit: footnote 84)
Looks interesting....
