Clonezilla 3.1.2-1 Testing

#1 Post by davidy »

Same as the stable version except now it defaults to zstdmt_compression (very fast & small image like gzip for multicore cpu). I went from a No compression folder of over 42gb down to less than 14gb and barely noticed the difference had I not known there was any compression at all. Optionally, you have to check it, they added "-edio" in the TUI wizard (enables direct IO when using Partclone to save or restore NVMe SSD's). My laptop has but 2 nvme's so I checked it. It's using the 6.5.3-1 linux kernel now too (I'm using 6.5.8-1). I restored a backup image with the Testing version and it worked fine. It was running ~18gb/m with 0 compression and with the zstdmt compression it runs at ~15gb/m on my laptop between the 2 nvme's.

Testing updated to 3.1.2-1 with the 6.5.10-1 liqourix kernel, the same one I ran when I installed it, and now runs at 17+gb/min the entire time. Guessing the edio option maybe be working better. I backup from a gen4 to a gen3 and wonder what the speeds would be if they were both gen4's.
Stable is now at 3.1.1-27. The changes are subtle and it's pretty much guaranteed to restore perfectly. I use the testing version as it works perfectly on my LemurPro. Backups now only use 15.7GB's.
