I've see this way too many times where people claim a Bluetooth audio device isn't working when the device is in fact working perfectly, it's just waiting for the operator to send it something to process.
More often than not, it is operator understanding that is missing, but that's hardly surprising because the real answer lies in the detail which just so happens to be very, very small.
When a machine has only 1 output device available, clicking the audio icon in the panel will show only a Volume slider in the fly-out menu with no additional information.
When more than 1 output device is possible, the slider will add the name of the currently selected output device under the slider and if you look carefully, you'll see a tiny arrowhead to the right of the device name. Click the tiny arrowhead to display another fly-out menu and select your desired output device.
It's as easy as that, but this action is an on-the-fly selector, it does not set the default output device, that is taken care of within the Audio mixer by setting the fallback device.
