Re: color folders
Well... did you do some research on HOW they got those colored folders? Which COULD help with implementing them on MX, if possible.
MX-23.6_x64 July 31 2023 * 6.1.0-40amd64 ext4 Xfce 4.20.0 * 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 2700
Asus TUF B450-Plus Gaming UEFI * Asus GTX 1050 Ti Nvidia 535.247.01 * 2x16Gb DDR4 2666 Kingston HyperX Predator
Samsung 870EVO * Samsung S24D330 & P2250 * HP Envy 5030

Re: color folders
You will have to change your file manager via MXPI. A preliminary search shows that Spacefm can do it. I don't know about the others available.jarp53 wrote: Fri Sep 08, 2023 6:55 am I would like have color folders it seem all that I find is for ubuntu --- no fun!!!
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;
In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

Re: color folders
Since there is no mention of what your driving a link that might help you for 'Folder Color for Linux' A file browser extension for choosing the color/emblems of a folder/files in Linux (Nautilus/Nemo/Caja file browsers)
https://github.com/costales/folder-color
I'm using kde and sometimes use different coloured folders usually though use icons from my collection of over 750 icons (resized up or down to 555 x555 and colours altered in Gimp) for the directories and default folder colours once I'm in there the folders don't matter as much.
Hope it helps putting some fun into your install.

Re: color folders
@jarp53 .. it will help get an answer for your question if you post your Quick System Info. (and it is forum rules.)
If your using xfce and thunar, there is a plug-in that provides custom icons and through this you can assign different icons OR colors to any folder. (or file !)

*QSI = Quick System Info from menu (Copy for Forum)
*MXPI = MX Package Installer
*Please check the solved checkbox on the post that solved it.
*Linux -This is the way!

Re: color folders
is for xfce with thunar; normally I go to pling.com and chose a gtk2-3 theme but what I try so far is not working and I've already been warn by CharlesV about mixing MX with ubuntu ; and I'm just a "copy & paste" user , so I need something easy to install
Re: color folders
You did not post your QSI, but if you are using XFCE with the papirus icons (the default), there is papirus-folders. It was previously packaged for MX but apparently not MX23. Since it is a single shell script you may as well just download it from github.
Re: color folders
could not do Papirus , but I've got https://github.com/EliverLara/Sweet-folders and combined them with https://github.com/EliverLara/candy-icons = lots of joy!!!!
Re: color folders
I guess the papirus-folders script works for the Papirus and Papirus-Dark icon sets but *not* the Papirus-mx* variants...
Re: color folders
Yes but papirus-folders still interesting in this case. And I like the palebrown color.baldyeti wrote: Sat Sep 09, 2023 2:51 pm I guess the papirus-folders script works for the Papirus and Papirus-Dark icon sets but *not* the Papirus-mx* variants...
Papirus Installer: Use the script to install the latest version directly from this repo (independently on your distro):
