Bluetooth adapter lost recently

#1 Post by Aronticuz »

Bluetooth adapter is not available on this computer (QSI down there - points down there).

It used to be available and I believe it may be connected (or not as the case may be) with most recent update - applied, if memory serves well, in the last week.

I tried the laptop, not updated, and it finds its bluetooth adapter rather well.

Here is QSI referred to earlier (there seem to be minor differences between laptop and Trigkey device regarding Bluetooth entries)

Your QSI shows that your blutetooth adapter is 'down' .

First see if it is blocked or just down. In a terminal , run

Code: Select all

rfkill
Second make sure the service is running

Code: Select all

service bluetooth status
*QSI = Quick System Info from menu (Copy for Forum)
*MXPI = MX Package Installer
*Please check the solved checkbox on the post that solved it.

@CharlesV thank youfar a swift reply

I tried the code and here are the results:

Code: Select all

Alan001@mx:/
$ rfkill
ID TYPE DEVICE SOFT HARD
 0 wlan phy0 unblocked unblocked
 1 bluetooth hci0 unblocked unblocked

and

Code: Select all

Alan001@mx:/
$ service bluetooth status
● bluetooth.service - Bluetooth service

So its not blocked, and service looks ok. But its not enabled...

You might try reinstalling bluez . Not entirely sure what systemd will take, and I dont have a KDE system that I can mess with until I am back. (few days.)

My xfce, sysVinit mx21 shows this as the installed bluez

bluez-cups/oldstable,now 5.55-3.1 amd64 [installed]
bluez-firmware/mx,mx,now 1.2-9~mx21ahs all [installed]
bluez-obexd/oldstable,now 5.55-3.1 amd64 [installed]
bluez-tools/oldstable,now 2.0~20170911.0.7cb788c-4 amd64 [installed]
bluez/oldstable,now 5.55-3.1 amd64 [installed]

plus

blueman/oldstable,now 2.1.4-1+b1 amd64 [installed]
bluetooth/oldstable,oldstable,now 5.55-3.1 all [installed]

I am also going to say that I did not have good luck with the 6.1 kernel. 6.2.14 was amazing, but I had all kinds of trouble with 6.1.

And interestingly, there are lots of reports of that specific bluetooth working just fine.
As an example:

Code: Select all

Bluetooth: Device-1: Intel AX200 Bluetooth type: USB driver: btusb v: 0.8 bus-ID: 3-1:2
           chip-ID: 8087:0029 class-ID: e001
           Report: hciconfig ID: hci0 rfk-id: 1 state: up address: <filter> bt-v: 3.0 lmp-v: 5.2
           sub-v: 200f hci-v: 5.2 rev: 200f
           Info: acl-mtu: 1021:4 sco-mtu: 96:6 link-policy: rswitch sniff link-mode: slave accept
service-classes: rendering, capturing, object transfer, audio
Another possibility... booting to sysVinit and seeing if it works there any better ?

Can you test the device in a Live USB session, or add a different kernel and test it? We have a variety of newer backported Debian and Liquorix kernels in AHS; currently up to 6.4 kernels.

The 6.1.0-7mx kernel you are currently running should be updated to the current 6.1.0-10mx-ahs2, also...

Yeah, I have the same device right here in this laptop, but running a 6.4 Liquorix kernel:

Code: Select all

Bluetooth: Device-1: Intel AX200 Bluetooth type: USB driver: btusb v: 0.8 bus-ID: 1-3:2
           chip-ID: 8087:0029 class-ID: e001
           Report: hciconfig ID: hci0 rfk-id: 3 state: up address: <filter> bt-v: 3.0 lmp-v: 5.2
           sub-v: 2090 hci-v: 5.2 rev: 2090
           Info: acl-mtu: 1021:4 sco-mtu: 96:6 link-policy: rswitch sniff link-mode: slave accept
service-classes: rendering, capturing, object transfer, audio, telephony
MXPI = MX Package Installer
QSI = Quick System Info from menu
The MX Test repository is mostly backports; not the same as Debian testing

I will mull over the options above - thank you for your replies.

I left Konsole open, returned to it and ... lo

Code: Select all
