Folks, any *.log files on my system open by default with VLC (No idea why), invariably I fail to notice this and then have to go through the 'open with' routine.

I have viewed System Settings File Associations and created an additional entry for 'log' and to open with kwrite but still it opens with VLC

I've obviously done something wrong with the addition of 'log' in the file associations section, appreciate any suggestions.

"have to go through the 'open with' routine"

When you do. On the bottom left there's a place to make a check mark. "Use as default for this kind of file"

Ah, thanks, when I've been using 'open with' there are four suggested apps of which one was kwrite. Now I see if I select use 'other application' then your remedy appears.

All sorted, cheers
