Bluetooth - unable to add/pair/use any device

#1 Post by agnivo007 »

I have a generic BT v5.0 dongle (cheap ones widely available) and it is detected and bluetooth icon shows up in taskbar, but unable to find/add/pair any BT device.

For your info I'm attaching some outputs:

Nothing works, even trying all console commands you mentioned, no devices listed, no chance of manual pairing! (check the output of dmesg where hci errors are reported) @rokytnji.1

Not sure if a newer kernel will help you or not. 5.10 manages my bluetooth OK. Maybe you need a newer kernel is all can think of.

I never have any luck with bluetooth either with the onboard device or a dongle. I eventually gave up trying to get it to work.

My gigabyte mobo has bluetooth and has worked flawless since using MX. However, my HP's have not. And I fixed them both by updating to the latest linux firmware and the 6.2x kernels .

Instructions on doing that are attached.

Well reading through the comments section. At least the patch instructions are included. Are you running a AHS kernel in MX or stock 5.10.

I guess if you have a backup kernel it won't hurt to try.

Code: Select all

harry@shop:~
$ dpkg --list | grep linux-image
ii  linux-image-4.9.0-279-antix.1-amd64-smp   4.9.0-279-antix.1-amd64-smp-1              amd64        Linux kernel, version 4.9.0-279-antix.1-amd64-smp
ii  linux-image-5.10.153-antix.1-amd64-smp    5.10.153-antix.1-amd64-smp-1               amd64        Linux kernel, version 5.10.153-antix.1-amd64-smp
ii  linux-image-5.10.57-antix.1-amd64-smp     5.10.57-antix.1-amd64-smp-1                amd64        Linux kernel, version 5.10.57-antix.1-amd64-smp
I am posting from my antiX motorcycle shop box presently.
