Folks, I have a wifi mouse that I have been using for some time, periodically it fails to work on startup but a reboot or umplugging the USB WiFi receiver corrects the issue.

Latest issue seems more permanent, reboots and unplugging has failed to resolve,

Below is a copy of dmesg when I replug in the sensor.

Where it lists input: 2.4G Wireless Mouse not sure why always two entries plus the input number at end of line always seems to increase.

Guessing this may be a configuration issue but not sure where to address.

Re: WiFi Mouse stops working  [Solved]

#2 Post by j2mcgreg »

Replace the battery with a fresh one and try again. If that doesn't solve the problem, replace the mouse. Mice don't last forever because of all the computer components, they take the most abuse.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

Looks like a coincidence has caught me out a wee bit.

Same thing happened a few weeks back, tried it on my Arch and Ubuntu systems, mouse worked fine, rebooted into MX and it started working. Thought it was a temporary plug and play issue but seems this time it is mouse malfunction as didn't work in other systems (which I hadn't tried before posting due to previous experience).

Ah well, joys of computers.

Thanks for input.
