Scanner package missing?

Hello I'm having some trouble with scanning. Before testing MX on this laptop I tried Linux Mint. I had some very bad issues with video that I could not get video acceleration with any h264 html5 video so I dropped it for MX. But there was one thing that was working right with Mint and that was scanning. I didn't have to do anything and Mint recognized the network printer/scanner automatically. I could scan and print fine. The printer is a Xerox WorkCentre 4265. The printer is on the printer list. But when you try to use Document Scanner it says it can't find any.

Xerox has a linux driver package for download, but it's only available as an rpm. See here:
https://www.support.xerox.com/en-us/content/109061

You can put in a package request (include this link) to see if our developers can rebuild it as a .deb for you:

If you can run a Live session of Mint, and the scanner works there, maybe we can determine how it's doing that. IDK if we include simple-scan on KDE...

It's odd that the va-api Skylake video acceleration isn't working in Mint, but maybe they didn't include the necessary libva packages on the default install. I know we added those for Skylake back for MX 18, but the only browser I remember it being sorta easy to get it working was Chromium based ones.

MX KDE has something called document scanner but it looks just like simple scan. Maybe itÅ› the same ? Would the printer-scanner be listed on Mint specs if I paste them here? Let me know the command or process. I have a Mint Matte iso

Here's the picture from Linux Mint. It scans fine.

Have you tried KDE's Skanlite?

There is also Skanpage for advanced scanning

Well I have tried Document Scanner and gscan2pdf. It doesn't see any scanners. I'll try Skanlite to see if it makes any difference.

I think that by no you will have realized that the package request that I suggested earlier is your best option.
