Hello Forum,
i have a issue with NordVPN.
I installed NordVPN with the MX Paket Installer.
No errors during the installation.
After that i go to the Application Menu to start NordVPN.
When i click on NordVPN it is not starting/opening/showing NordVPN on my screen.
I had this issue with MX-19 and also with MX-21.
I tried also Mullvad VPN.
After the installation of Mullvad VPN i can open/start Mullvad VPN via the Application Menu.
It is showing Mullvad VPN on my screen.
What is wrong with NordVPN via the MX Paket-Installer?
Kind Regards

1. First, make sure you install the package xterminal as it may not be installed by default. It is needed for the login by browser.
2. did you install nordvpn using the POPULAR APPLICATIONS tab of MX Packageinstaller? That is vital if you want to run nordvpn without specially booting up MX in systemd.
3. You have to run all the commands through terminal:
LOGIN:
nordvpn --login --nordaccount
[this provdes you a URL link which you need to copy into the browser and then enter account and password details from there. Once the browser confirms you are logged in, go back to the terminal]
CONNECT:
nordvpn c [this will default to connecting with your own country]
or to connect to a specific country, eg USA
nordvpn c us [you have to use the standard 2-letter abbreviation for each country]
DISCONNECT:
nordvpn d

Re: NordVPN installation with MX Paket Installer
Hello fehlix,
NordVPN works now.
First i installed NordVPN via MX Paket-Installer.
When you try now to start NordVPN via the Application Menu it will not open a NordVPN-Screen, like Mullvad VPN does.
After the installation via MX Paket-Installer you have to go to the Application Menu > System > Xfce-Terminal.
Put in the command: nordvpn status
Answer: Status: Disconnected
Put in the command: nordvpn account
Answer: You are not logged in.
Put in the command: nordvpn login
Answer: Continue in the browser: "Click here on the link you see here." In the browser you put in your nordvpn username and password. Now you can go back to your Xfce-Terminal-Screen.
Put in the command: nordvpn login
Answer:
New feature - Meshnet! Link remote devices in Meshnet to connect to them directly over encrypted private tunnels, and route your traffic through another device. Use the `nordvpn meshnet --help` command to get started. Learn more: https://
You are already logged in.
When you start NordVPN via the Application Menu it will now open the Xfce-Terminal.
So the NordVPN-Configuration is all via the Xfce-Terminal.
It has not the NordVPN-Screen like Mullvad VPN has.
Thanks fehlix

Hello asqwerth,
what you are writing i discovered that when "fehlix" was talking about "terminal".
During the process i saw it's all "Xfce-Terminal", no NordVPN-Programm-Screen at all.
Now i play a bit with all the commands.
Thanks "fehlix" and "asqwerth"

Re: NordVPN installation with MX Paket Installer
For future reference, always thoroughly research VPN providers to see if they offer a GUI for Linux. Some do, some don't. Nord is strictly CLI. I have asked them before if they ever plan to make a GUI for Linux, amd they said maybe some day but its not a top priority. Which isn't good for those without any technical knowledge or very little.
Here's the connectivity and troubleshooting section for Linux:

This has a list of useful commands:

Also, they're super responsive to emails and have helped me a lot if I couldn't figure things out on my own. Hope this helps and best of luck!
