¿how to update flatpak packages?
friends, please install whatsapp from MXInstaller in flatpaks repository. But now I have a question about how mxlinux updates these packages.
Is there any update notification like with the other packages? How does mxlinux handle updates to flatpak packages?
Thank you very much for your answers.

Re: ¿how to update flatpak packages?
there is no update notification for flatpaks. not update will take place unless you run updates manually either from the cli or from mx-packageinstaller->flatpak tab.

Re: ¿how to update flatpak packages?
Thank you very much for clearing the doubts. Allow me this suggestion though: This approach of separating the flatpak packages is not the most optimal or user friendly, so to speak. The correct approach is to unify the way to update the packages.@dolphin_oracle not update will take place unless you run updates manually either from the cli or from mx-packageinstaller->flatpak tab.
LinuxMint in its "update-manager" application has decided to support flatpak and notify you when there is an update to a flatpak package. Thus giving it the same treatment as the other packages. This update comes in December with linuxmint vera.
On the net there are clueless users who say they don't know about this roll of updates and when they come to see a lot of outdated flatpak applications.

Thanks for the suggestion.
that may be correct for Mint, but its not correct for MX. We have heard from many that they appreciate our approach since its easy to miss in integrated package managers what you are actually installing. Having the separate tabs makes that super clear.

Separate tabs in MXInstaller is super cool. Merging it into a single tab would be a mess since the nature of flatpaks is different from other packages that share system libraries.
When I was talking about unifying, I meant "unifying the way packages are updated". In other words, if I install an app from the mx repository and then install an app from the flatpak repository, both have the same opportunities to be updated at will by the user when there is a new version in the repository.
how are things now Only the updates of the apps installed via repo mx, debian and ppa's are notified and the poor flatpak packages are forgotten in the room of san alejo
Re: ¿how to update flatpak packages?
There may be a way in Plasma Discover: install plasma-discover-backend-flatpak
More info -> https://flatpak.org/setup/Kubuntu
I haven't tried it because 1) I don't use Discover and 2) I don't have any flatpak apps installed
Good luck tho

hmm wow!!! I don't use plasma Discover either. Hopefully someone who uses flatpak and discover packages can confirm if installing the discover plugin already covers updates to flatpak.
I use the unofficial respin of mxlinux (cinnamon) that brings mx updater. I really love the mxlinux apps: mxinstaller, mx snapshot, mxclean, mx repair boot. But I don't really like kde. I like cinnamon.

Re: ¿how to update flatpak packages?
Actually, this does bring up an interesting question. Would you personally recommend using the MXPI or KDE's Discover to update, assuming someone is using the KDE version of MX? Is there any appreciable difference between how the two update?dolphin_oracle wrote: Tue Dec 20, 2022 1:30 pm Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: ¿how to update flatpak packages?
I prefer mxpi for updating flatpaks. I honestly rarely update flatpaks unless some new feature comes out. maybe I would want to update something like a browser more often, but things like video editors and the like maybe not so much.

Why do you post questions in the KDE section, if you don't use KDE?Juan_David95 wrote: Tue Dec 20, 2022 7:53 pm I use the unofficial respin of mxlinux (cinnamon) that brings mx updater.
