I messed up, and deleted a widget I love, so I'm wondering whether anyone can help me. It's a KDE widget

I'm not sure, but it may be installed by default on MX-KDE. Let us know what the result is when you add that "System Load Viewer" back to the taskbar.

I don't know if this will help ... but here goes
right click on taskbar
click on + Add Widgets
scroll down the list of Widgets
choose System Load Viewer

Install plasma-systemmonitor because ksysguard is no longer supported (since 5.22 IIRC)
Then install the widget again (if not present in the widget list, click on the "Get new widgets...")
If you want to open SystemMonitor by clicking on the widget -> open .local/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.plasma.systemloadviewer/contents/ui/SystemLoadViewer.qml and replace all "ksysguard" strings to "plasma-systemmonitor" (should be 2 of them)
