I used this guide but it did not work https://www.simplified.guide/linux/disk-mount all it end that doing was creating a " disk" folder in /home/jr directory ; so I split sda in two and used sda1 for timeshift and would like to use sda2 for storage , time shift back up looks like is ok but I can not paste any thing on sda2 ; any help would be appreciated

Get another drive and install it in your computer. Boot the computer and run Gparted. Make sure you pick the correct drive and format it to Ext4.

mounted still says nothing about the write rights.
These have after formatting often only the admin account with which the partitioner was started.
First of all I would check the rights assignment

Because GParted gives the ownership to root by default. (Therefore it doesn't let the user write )

"MX Tweak" from menu: "Other" tab: "Enable mounting of internal drives ... "

Or (if still not):

Code: Select all

sudo chown -R jr:jr /media/jr/storage

If you like only (while you're at it) you can also mount them all first, then:

Code: Select all

sudo chown -R jr:jr /media/jr/*
(to do it for all what you have)
