I'm sorry if this is the wrong board or anything. I'm pretty new to Linux and am trying to configure everything to my liking.
I've tried searching for a solution but to no avail.
So, I have two monitors. One is my big TV 4k screen that I like to use for watching movies etc. I don't want it to use the default 4k resolution though since it only support 30Hz that way. I can change the resolution to 1080p 60Hz, but every time I use the "switch Video Output" function (windows+p) and deactivate the screen it seems to forget the resolution I've set and everything back to auto mode which means it goes back to the highest supported resolution I guess.
Maybe there is a config file I need to edit? I have no clue. I am grateful for any help I can get.
Thank you
4K Display always forgets set resolution after switching output mode
Re: 4K Display always forgets set resolution after switching output mode
Till then (if you like) you can make a script and a keybinding for it, then just hit your key after switching. (You can even directly use your key to switch to tv with that setting)
Just install ARandR and after switching output and setting it as you like, "save" it..
... It saves as an executable .sh . Finally from "Keyboard" (at least according to Xfce) make a keybinding (a single key will make it even simpler, say F8 ) .. the full path to .sh file as the command.

Thank you for your help. It kinda seems there is something missing at the start of your post?
ARandR sounds like what I need. I'll take a look at it when I'm home.

:) I began with "till then" just for this is a workaround. At least till you/we know the reason and find a direct solution :)kira1992 wrote: Thu Apr 21, 2022 4:21 am... It kinda seems there is something missing at the start of your post?
