How to install XFCE with MX customizations [Solved]

I have MX-21 KDE. If I install XFCE desktop from Package Manager, I will get vanilla XFCE. How can I install the awesome MX customizations?
If the answer is "you can't", let's say I would go and install MX-21 standard edition in a VM. Are there some files and folders that I can steal?

Install mx-comfort-themes using MX Packageinstaller or Synaptic.

Under "Appearance", apply:

1. Theme/Looks = mx-comfort (either light or dark depending on your preference)
2. Icon = mx-blue-darkpanes (for light mx-comfort theme) or mx-blue-dark (for dark theme)

Under Window Manager:

Apply MX comfort light or dark window manager theme depending which gtk theme you chose above. Or their thick border variants if you need something more grabbable.


Alternative to above, you can open MX-Tweak. Under XFCE, MX Tweak will show a whole integrated control panel for changing theme, icons and windpw mgr theme in one window, so you don't have to open APpearance and Window Manager xfce tools separately.

You shouldn’t get vanilla xfce anymore. The xfce entry in mxpackageinstaller popular apps pulls in a lot of stuff these days.

This should be true as long as you don’t have a pre-existing ~/.config/xfce4 folder.

This is very important info to know. I had a xfce4 folder.

the assumption is that if there is an existing xfce4 settings folder that those should take precedent. We try not to mess with home folders.

you can remove the ~/.config/xfce4 folder and on next login our defaults will take over.

if you decide to remove the folder, you should remove the folder from outside the xfce4 environment, either from a live-usb or from your KDE environement. the xfce settings dameon is tenacious and hard to override while xfce is actually running.

The package name is "apt-notifier" in the MX repos.
