[SOLVED] How To Install VirtualBox Guest Additions In AntiX?

#1 Post by Linux_Noob »

Hello,
I wanted to install virtualbox guest additions in antiX 32 bit edition. It seems a bit hard for me, can anybody help me do that?
After I had inserted the guest additions disk to the virtual drive, I ran this

Code: Select all

sudo /media/$USER/VBox_GAs*/VBoxLinuxAdditions.run

that says "permission denied". I don't know what to do, have tried

Code: Select all

chmod +x
then it says "the media is only read-only" or something.
My real system is a 64 bit one and is running ubuntu.

I am running virtual box version 5 and it will be great if somebody could please help me out

incidentally guest additions are preinstalled on the antiX 19.3 base and full media.

If they aren't activating, you may want to make sure your default video driver for the VM is VBoxSVGA instead of the default VMSVGA.

Sorry for the late reply. I have the latest version of antiX 32 bit edition, just realised that the guest additions were pre-installed when I checked the session information. How to know the video driver that antiX is running? have checked the video option and system too, but I can't find that

https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/UserM ... gs-display (in the VirtualBox user manual) Look in the VirtualBox settings for your virtual machine (when antiX isn't running in it) under Display.

I only get these options:

Can't find that display driver option for any VM that I have in my virtual box. Had used this option in the past though

Is antiX your guest operating system, the one running in the virtual machine, or is it the host operating system that VirtualBox runs in?

What is the host OS and what version of VirtualBox do you have?

Graphics Controller: Specifies the graphics adapter type used by the guest VM. Note that you must install the Guest Additions on the guest VM to specify the VBoxSVGA or VMSVGA graphics controller

As per what I have checked the guest additions are installed. Another VM that has Windows XP with guest additions is also missing this option
