OBS Crashes (Solved)

#1 Post by codydragonrude »

For some reason only on mxlinux both regular and AHS versions obs crashes anytime i click apply after changing settings
I can't get anything from the log files but from what it looks like gui wise is something to do with audio
If i disable mic audio and click apply it crashes and then when i boot it back up it resets the audio stuff so both desktop audio and mic audio are there

I will look into it some more

What worked for me

After you first install mxlinux update and all that

Install obs from flathub

Do not install the default repo one and then install the flathub version later

For some reason the bug from the default repo version carries over to the flathub version if you install the default repo version first

I could not get a log file that tells me what exactly is the crash being caused by so yeah

How exactly did you install OBS originally?

What 'default repo'?
Desktop: Intel i5-4460, 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics
Clevo N130WU-based Ultrabook: Intel i7-8550U (Kaby Lake R), 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics (UEFI)
ASUS X42D laptop: AMD Phenom II, 6GB RAM, Mobility Radeon HD 5400

same here with the default repos and obs-studio.

the settings get applied if you hit "ok" instead of apply, but the gui still crashes. luckily you only have to set it up once.

same happens on my wife's windows pc when you hit apply, although hitting OK doesn't crash the gui for her.

its fixed in the version of obs-studio available in the test repo.

Well, that's annoying! Do you recommended the test repo version move to main, then? I built it against standard Buster, except for our own nvenc-enabled main ffmpeg packages.
