Plasma 5 Version?

I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right subforum.
About MX KDE currently in Beta 2; will the final version be released with Plasma 5.14?
I know that it's the Debian version but 5.18 LTS brings considerable improvements like easier system settings.
btw, it's wonderful to see KDE finally officially supported

We cannot at this time upgrade to KDE 5.18 on the Debian Stable base.

We may look into updating the Plasma version if possible for the next KDEMX release, which should be still be based on Buster, but it needs at least 200 packages backported, some of them quite hefty builds. There's no way we're going to switch horses in midstream for the 19.2 version, even if we magically had all the backports done by elves overnight. (anyone know of any nerd elves looking for work?)

lol
Thanks for the answers.
Having Plasma 5.14 is not a deal breaker. I'm waiting eagerly for KDEMX final release

It never went away AFAIK. Enable it in System Settings > Workspace Behaviour > Desktop Effects

Plus we've had it in compiz in MX for years now on non-Plasma desktops, or it was an extension for the Cinnamon desktop, too.

The news that there is now a plasma version of MX triggered me into joining the forums. A combination where you would always have the lates plasma LTS with an MX-base would be the combination of all combinations. Hopefully it will be doable some day.

Potential new user here. I agree with kjunix regarding the goal of having MX Linux incorporating the latest LTS version of plasma. I've been a KDE user since version 1.1 and tried numerous distros over time looking for one that best supports KDE while providing a stable, secure, flexible platform. I ended up on Debian many years ago and it fits the bill perfectly except for one thing, lagging support for KDE.
I've tried openSUSE, Kubuntu, KDE Neon, Netrunner, KaOS, Neptune, etc. etc. etc. but they either provide dated versions of KDE, are buggy, or lack flexibility. In the case of openSUSE (Gecko), while reliable, I find it cumbersome to use compared to Debian. I also dislike some of its design decisions that tend to make it overly complicated for typical users. It seems to be oriented more toward system administrators.
MX Linux seems to be much more desktop user oriented. I particularly like the default inclusion of programs like yakuake, aptitude, vim, digikam, clementine, vlc, and the latest version of Firefox. I like the little touches, like having syntax highlighting already enabled in vim. In fact, while there are a few applications I won't use, MX Linux out-of-the-box requires much less fiddling with than any other distro I've recently used. The ONLY application I question is the use of Back in Time rather than Timeshift, as the former doesn't seem to be actively developed anymore.
I short, I have a good feeling about this distro. Keep up the good work. I think you may have found a new user.

I thought we had Lucky Backup instead of Back in Time, but we'll consider Timeshift for the next point release. Unless we switched to BIT for the KDE edition...Thanks for the kudos!
