screen continuously turn off - SOLVED

Hello everybody
The last 3 days my screen continuously "go to sleep" when I am actively using my PC. Moving the mouse or pressing a key solve the problem, but it does it randomly and very frequently. I solved the problem by not loading the power manager. A bug in the power manager? I tried to play a bit with the settings, but the problem persisted.

Here's my sistem:

Power Manager => "Display" tab => uncheck "Handle display power management" (Or play with those settings)

Just by the way (not related to this issue), all users are recommended to upgrade to the latest 4.19 kernel from MX Package Installer (Popular Apps tab).. (That one is 4.19.0-9 .. yours is currently 0-6 .. )

I've got a ProBook 450 G5 and I found that I had to disable the screen saver as well. Adjusting the settings seemed to have no discernible effect on the frequency that the screen saver activated.

Mine started doing this after the second to the last update. Something must have changed because prior to a few days ago it wasn't doing this. In fact, this was one of the reasons to go with MX-Linux for me in the first place - it handled putting the monitor to sleep successfully.
I have my system configured to lock the screen on sleep so I have to type in my password when it stops on me.

Is there a way to find out why it went to sleep/locked?

Quick question...for those affected what applications are you using at the time the screen turns off, aND do you have screens set to lock when the monitor goes to sleep?

This is a hard one to track down

we are going to roll back the xfce4-power-manager update and see if that helps.

My current theory is a mismatch between the power-manager and the screensaver versions.

You're welcome, glad it worked.

I have a feeling that you'll change it to "Solved" from "kind of solved" :)
