Greyed out sound (SOLVED)

Hi, this might be of help:

in the past few days I had some instances of sound output going missing, e.g. playing video.

I noticed the tray sound icon was greyed out (including just now when I wasn't playing any video etc).

I found that if I click on the grey icon the blue/white slider appears ok, and if I "adjust the volume" on that the tray icon is no longer greyed and the sound is back!
