USBGuard vs "Rubber Ducky"

#1 Post by thomasl »

USBGuard (https://usbguard.github.io) is a CLI tool that can help to protect your PCs against so-called BadUSB attacks by USB devices like Rubber Ducky.

Whether using this tool makes sense at all depends on your risk profile and risk aversion. A single user sitting in front of their own PC who wouldn't even dream of ever inserting an unknown USB stick into one of the USB ports (I admit I've done that on occasion  ) will probably think this is overkill. OTOH, someone with kids or supporting people who are no tech-wizards might well think it worth their while to look into this. YMMV.

USBGuard is in the repos and apparently there's also a Qt-based GUI for the CLI version though I have not checked this. Good write-ups about how to use the tool are easy to find with Google.
