the MX TOOLS setting of BRIGHTNESS SYSTRAY gave me crazy monitor colours [solved]

Silly me, I thought that the MX TOOLS setting of BRIGHTNESS SYSTRAY was going to change the brightness of the systray that comes as standard on the left edge of the screen, but which I have relocated to the bottom of my screen.

What it did do was completely bugger up the colours of my screen. After investigation I now know that it has changed the monitor’s backlighting setting (so this utility is poorly named – yes?).

How do I reset back to the correct out of the box display colours?

And failing that, reset all of the settings back to their defaults that were loaded from the LIVE version where it all began?

Please use code tags when posting code type data. Highlight the text and click on the </> symbol at the top of the text block.

I see the confusion re the naming. The meaning is intended to be "add the brightness controller icon to the systray". If you click it again and move the slider back it does not return to normal?

I thought I fixed this bug...

for now, you can reset your gamma value.

Twiddling the slider just gave me different variations on the crazy colours!


To DOLPHIN_ORACLE:
Resetting the gamma value by using the following code worked a treat. Many thanks.

That command line instruction did not survive a reboot.
I acknowledge that's a first world problem that I could very easily live with, but is there a solution that would make the reset gamma values "stick"?

you can delete the script under ~/.config/MX-Linux/MX-Tweak

that matches your display. or you can edit the same script and adjust the Gamma value to 1:1:1 (that should be default).

so that I can debug, can you give me the output of this
