I think I blew out my Samba! OMG!

#1 Post by woodyb12 »

I was using the SAMBA configuration package to list a share on my system and I think I did something wrong.
I have used this program many times in the past and it always worked; that is until I made the mistake of choosing something I shouldn't have.
Here is the method I use: Right-click on desktop->choose "share folder on network"->then choose "plus-sign" to add new share.
The problem is this: Instead of doing my usual thing; choosing the "plus sign", I thought I would choose the "preferences" tab and add myself as a user. 9_9 . So, now when I right-click and choose "share folder on network" it just dissappears. Same thing with the Samba Icon (which runs the same program).
I have 2 computers which were built the same, and the same version of MX-18.3: so, I used the other computer to see if I had altered the samba-conf. file and they are exactly the same. I also Opened the executable in vim and compared the two files, and, they are the same too! So! how do I fix this??
Thanking all in advance; woodyb12 :bagoverhead:

SOLVED! Reinstalled

I am trying to share files between virtual machines and the host. It was working and I messed it up somehow. I can ping every computer and VM from each. I have MX-18.3 as host machine ( on 2 different computers: built the same; MB,Snd., memory..etc) and Samba-config [gksu-samba-config] works on one, but, not any more on the one I changed the "user" on.
