If I break my system and can't boot up other than the live system, how would I restore using timeshift?

Install timeshift in the Live Session and tell it where to find the backup data and where to restore it.

Yes, I didn't know you can install software from the live environment, that helps a lot!

The only limitation might be how much RAM you have, but you would need to install a lot for it to be a problem.

The other thing you could do is install Timeshift in a live session, then make a snapshot ISO. Burn that ISO to a DVD, or create a live USB with it, and keep that to boot from when you need recovery.

Timeshift doesn't back up your personal home folder, only your system. But restoring from a Timeshift save point doesn't touch your data in your home folder, either.

Under USERS in timeshift there are options, of which the last is all inclusive, no?
