FocusWriter from the stable repo doesn't work
I didn't know in which section to make this post, I hope it's the correct one.
I installed FocusWriter from the stable repo and nothing happens when I click on it. I uninstalled it and reinstalled after rebooting, no change. Is this a bug? Can someone confirm?

Re: FocusWriter from the stable repo doesn't work
I don't understand.
YOu said you had already installed it.
You tried to run it from the menu and it didn't run.
Now try to run it via a command in terminal. Doing so will display all the error messages so the experts here can understand why it's not running for you.
[EDIT] OK, our posts crossed. Having checked, it looks like you need to specify a file after the word "focuswriter". https://www.mankier.com/1/focuswriter

Re: FocusWriter from the stable repo doesn't work
I figured that out (kind of late), so I edited the last post. Yes I installed it using MXPI and it's in the menu as an option.

Re: FocusWriter from the stable repo doesn't work
$ focuswriter test
focuswriter: Fatal IO error 2 (No such file or directory) on X server :0.0.
I guess I can find an alternative, but I really liked focuswriter. It just... Makes more Focus

Well, just wait for the more knowledgeable members to wake up to give their input. Someone might be able to help you.
MEanwhile, could you post the output of Quick SYstem Info?

Re: FocusWriter from the stable repo doesn't work
No, it works for me with just the "focuswriter" command in the terminal.
It's Qt5...didn't we have some threads about Qt 5 apps like VLC not starting in MX for some people unless they added some environment command first? Sparky, can you start vlc from the terminal?
Does it make any difference if you use MX Tweak to switch to the "intel" driver and restart the system?
Oh, wait, is this the same laptop that gave you the same sort of error message with VLC? https://mxlinux.org/forum/viewtopic.php ... f&start=10
