Hello,
if i want to use a second screen and vlc, the vlc crash, if i move it on the second screen.

If i use kodi and do this, kodi only show a black screen.

If i only use the second screen, kodi works without problems and vlc not.

First screen: 1366x768 60hz

Second screen: 1920x1080 24hz

I don't use Kodi myself, but with a bit of Google magic I see that you can turn on debugging and then there will be a log to look at.

I have the Problem also with vlc and many many more programs.

you might also try installing the newer xfce4-settings from our test repo. it includes some multi-monitor fixes. No idea if it will address your problem, but it can't hurt to try.

use mx-packageinstaller->full catalog tab->test repo to do the install if you decide to try.

Hmm.. I do got the impression you decribe your issue in the wrong order.

You might first go into Settings -> Display and sort out the Display settings
to have a proper 2-Monitor Display. Other wise you will not have a desktop on the 2nd monitor.
Simply check whether you can move deskop icons onto the 2nd monitor-desktop!
Only if you have a proper desktop on both monitor, you might try to move open app-window
onto the 2nd display.

I could use Firefox and antoher without problems. But not kodi or vlc.
Is there a way to update to vlc 3.0.4 and to the newest kodi version?
I try it with antoher repo but without luck, because some packets are too old.

it also not work with the new vlc drom the test repo.

kodi works in the windows mode without problems. but not in Fullscreen mode.

Edit: if i have kodi on the second screen in window mode and then change screen from default to the first screen, nothing happend. if i change it to the second screen, kodi have a black screen.

You do show only one setting of the two monitors!

I do recommend the following
make sure with both monitors to select "Use this Monitor",
Select "Mirror both" ( "Bildschirm spiegeln" )
Select only one "Main Monitor" "Haptbildschirm"
Now deselect again "Mirror both" ( "Bildschirm spiegeln" )"
Make sure again only select one "Main Monitor" "Haptbilschirm"

As I said already above. Only when the 2nd monitor is integrated with the
xfce-"desktop" environment, it makes sense to test applications using both monitors.
Just check whether you can move an desktop icon from one monitor
desktop onto the other.

Hast du in den Display/Bildschirm Einstellungen schon mal versucht mit nur einem einzigen Display auszukommen? Erst mal den Laptop Bildschirm erkennen lassen, dann den Zweiten einstellen, gefolgt vom Laptop Bildschirm ... gar nicht benutzen. Ich hatte in der Vergangenheit eine Maschine die lediglich nur ein einziges Display erkennen konnte. Zwar hatte ich die Möglichkeit ein Zweites Display anzuschließen, aber wegen meiner minderwertigen Grafik Karte bedeutete das, dass es lediglich möglich war egal welchen der beiden Bildschirme zu benutzen, nur nicht beide zusammen.

What kind of computer is this ... Laptop or PC ... Calculator speed, RAM, processor, 64bit or 32bit? Have you tried in the display / screen settings ever with only a single display to get along? First let the laptop screen recognize, then adjust the second, followed by the laptop screen ... do not use. In the past, I had a machine that could only recognize a single display. Although I had the option to connect a second display, but because of my inferior graphics card meant that it was only possible to use which of the two screens, but not both together.

Once I noticed that a German installation of MX was being used ... and since the original poster may not have noticed a German section here ... I chose to respond in that language in order to be more accommodating. Sorry for not realizing that this was against forum rules. Several people here have had no problem whatsoever using Google translate in the past, right in this very forum ... so why is it a problem now? I think as a forum regular I deserve the benefit of the doubt, not forcing me to write everything in duplicate.

It is common courtesy for people to provide translations for non German (or other languages) speakers.

Mit nur einen schirm läuft Kodi. vlc aber nicht. Ich nutze kodi jetzt einfach im Fenstermodus und dann über Vollbild. Vlc läuft trotzdem nicht. selber fehler wie hier: viewtopic.php?f=104&t=45284&p=449736#p449736

Wir spielen bei uns Zuhause alles direct von Festplatte mit VLC ab, aber smplayer hat von Haus aus alle Codecs vor-installiert.
In our home we utilize VLC to play everything directly from hard disk, but smplayer comes with all codecs pre-installed already.

Kodi finde ich in Ordnung für sogenannte TV Boxen, aber nicht so gut for Computer.
Kodi is pretty good for TV boxes, but we don't care for it very much on Computers.

@ preterive : the first thing to do when you ask for help is to describe your PC configuration. MX Tools > Quick System Info (sorry I don't know German for it). It will help identify issues.
And I second fehlix, could you show the settings of the second monitor! Is 24Hz usual frequency??

yes, i use 24Hz on the second screen. the first screen is with 60" .
The pastebin text is without the second screen. It is a 40" FullHD sony screen.
yes, Kodi & VLC worked with ubuntu without any problems. but this was last year.
I have the same problem like there: viewtopic.php?f=104&t=45284 .
I try smplayer on the second screen tomorrow. Okay? But i really hate smplayer for the bad design.

I sure hope things get sorted for you.

That system info wasn't done in the MX install, or was it? If not, you can put the output of mxtools and then quick system info between code tags. The button that looks like </> can be used for it. That'll prevent LOOOOOOONG text and puts it in a nice scroll box :)
