I'm not seeing the Disk Manager problem either, it seems to launch without complaint here (on a live session anyway)
I thought maybe it's that i did not use the "live-usb-maker" from AVL to create the usb-stick, so I just did another run with a stick created by the AVL tool. But it is haveing the same issue, the live-system starts into an black window with cursor only.
brings back the AVL Enlightenment Desktop. The PC I use is a bit older, maybe some wonky stuff is happening here. If it was an widespread issue more people would complain.
As I said, I was able to install it on a sdd and it runs fine when booted into.
The "disk-manager" seems to be related to the installed version, i changed a theme there maybe thats the cause, on the live-stick it just will not start when run from the mx-tools menu, from terminal as sudo it runs fine.

If needed i can provide logs etc. from the liveusb-system , you just need to tell me which ones.

I think we have our wires crossed, your neofetch appears to be from AV Linux 21.X with XFCE4... The thread is about the brand new release 23.1 with Kernel 6.6.9 and the Enlightenment Desktop Environment. I just want make sure we're talking about the same thing.

Sorry for the confusion, i made that neofetch while creating the AVL-23 live-usb on AV-Linux 21.X. Did not think that through...
The things i mentioned are all happening with
AVL 23 LIVE-USB.
This is what i get after booting the Live-System (AVL 23):

running "startx /usr/bin/enlightenment_start", looks like a vanilla-start of Enlightenment

This is acting like some kind of lightDM issue, I wonder if it's a systemd vs. sysvinit thing..?
To be clear once you were able to get the system installed everything worked OK?

Yes, after installation it booted right into Enlightenment/lightdm-greeter, with both the init.d and systemd boot options. No issues there, apart from that disk-manager thingy.
I would have tested a LIVE-Boot into systemd, but I did not find an option for it in the LIVE-USB Menu.

Got it! No, the live system is sysvinit only, systemd is only a post-install option.

sorry for the slow reply, it's my on-call week for work and it's been a little hectic plus a 17mo old that has simultaneously RSV, influenza and metapneumovirus... :yeesh:
so it turns out I'm an idiot, I watched your tutorial video at work and was only half paying attention but I was on my umpteenth reinstall trying to figure out what I was doing wrong and on the computer name/domain page it hit me, you had said something about enlightenment being tied to that somehow, and when I left that page alone and rebooted VOILA!!! all working as it should on both my Minisforum desktops and my old sony vaio laptop w/legacy nvidia card... I'll pay closer attention to the tutorial next time... haha
