I know I sound like a broken record when say that a timeshift can save you from problems... but as we just saw... "things happen" :-)

Also, give it a lot of thought when an upgrade wants to remove a load of packages, and asks your permission to do so.
Just sayin'.
I don't know if Discover shows the terminal output, though.

Yeah, No, I have never seen Discover (KDE) show me the terminal output, nor the result of accepting the update, i.e., removing 'everything'...
Maybe there's a way to have Discover show me the results of updating...
Anyway...Yeah, good advice.
