Neither I nor anyone else could come up with a method to get SAMBA working on my computers. But then I happened to come across a video on the YouTube "Explaining Computers" channel that talked about a file transfer program called Warpinator. I looked in the MX Package Installer and found that Warpinator was available, so I installed it on all three of my computers. Using it, I was able to transfer files between them successfully. It's not as elegant a solution as using SAMBA with File Manager, but it works and for me at least, that's the bottom line.

Thanks to everyone who expended time and effort in trying to solve the SAMBA issue.

And thank you. Definitely something is wrong with samba on that one machine ;-/

Well, it's not just the one machine. The others don't work either. But with Warpinator, it's a moot point.
