On the install, right click - open root Thunar here is not opening a root Thunar. It doesn't seem to do anything.

Re: MX-14 beta 2
Their were reported issues pre-B2 with booting on older machines with IDE drives. To test this, I had thrown together a single-core Athlon box with an IDE HDD. This failed to boot B1, giving the 'Fatal error - No block devices found!' report.
I have just tried B2 on the IDE box, and it boots fine.

It's working fine here, on both an install and running live.Eadwine Rose wrote:On the install, right click - open root Thunar here is not opening a root Thunar. It doesn't seem to do anything.
If you are running installed, can you try live?

Interesting, it works on the livecd.

Yes, bug found. Will fix. (lightdm still has symlink in /etc/rc.3.d)

Perhaps it might be worth reinstalling, in case something screwed up?Eadwine Rose wrote:Interesting, it works on the livecd.

Re: MX-14 beta 2
I tried an install on a DELL D430 netbook. This machine has no built-in optical drive, and uses a proprietary USB connection for its dedicated external optical drive. (I installed with a CD.) It has been difficult to install some Linux distros to this machine in the past, and some hardware is not recognised.
MX-14 installed perfectly, with no issues. Graphics, sound, networking, special function keys, and all touchpad functions work 100%. It runs really well on a machine that only has modest performance.
inxi -F details:

To install samba stuff, use the metapackage installer application

Unfortunately, 'smbclient' is not part of that Samba install option in 'metapackage-installer'...To afab4's point, it should be added to solve the problem he notes.anticapitalista wrote:To install samba stuff, use the metapackage installer application
EDIT: I've added this as a suggestion in the metapackage-installer section.
