MH saves an file per one e-mail in mail box directory...
+1 It is my case too.

Please let us know how it goes.

But be careful, I just checked and apparently it still comes with the same warnings that they've had for years now: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/ma ... hunderbird

Before I switched I read the experiences of others who had switched to maildir on TB, and as I recall the experiences had been positive or I most likely wouldn't have tried it, and I did (and always do) back everything up before I tried, and as I said I haven't had any problems. But it does concern me a little that after all this time they still disable it by default.

By the way, I like Thunderbird because of the calendar and event sidebar that I couldn't get to work as well for me in other clients if they had calendars. Except maybe the KDE PIM apps (Kontact or Korganize or something?), and I didn't try it long enough to get too used to it, one thing I didn't like was how it left parts of all it's apps all over the place, instead of one clean install in one or two directories, as I recall. But KDE is the one I might would use if not for TB, but it's also one that I don't hear much about.

Thank you for the additional info.
I will look at the link for sure.
I don't think it will change anything on the email server so naively assume any foul ups will be in the method T'bird stores the files locally.

If it means an uninstall - a reinstall - sort of thing I will put it down to experience and tactile learning = no harm done (isn't linux a beaut!)

Yeah using the web is ok as I can just go straight to the app, but entering the password all the time is a pain! I'll check out evolution thanks
Since, AFAIK, there are no free web clients for protonmail I am using the proton web client in combination with
Package: webapp-manager
Version: 1.1.5-1~mx21+1
Launch websites as if they were apps.

That way I have a nice app icon in plank, which when I click it opens a (firefox) window with the look and feel of a "normal" app.
(w/o all the browser elements which are usually visible, like addressbar, bookmarkbar, etc...)
Passwords get saved automatically if one wishes so.
