have sort of same issue and tried various things
best i could come on so far ,is to press ctrl+alt+backspace , screen comes on (wake up)
i'm on Xfce though don't know if it'll work with KDE

Nope, this one is absolutely an HDMI issue.

@blumx Have you tried (at least to see what happens, though this would be annoying to do each time):

• Unplug and replug the HDMI cable

or

• Switch to another tty then come back ( say: Ctrl+Alt+F1 then Ctrl+Alt+F7 , or Ctrl+Alt+F1 then Alt+(left) Arrow )

P.S. Though it wakes up with the other distro: Have a look if the monitor itself has a powersave setting (or so), if yes, disable that and try.

I have a similar problem that happens on some nvidia driver versions. Going to a virtual terminal puts the monitors to sleep. Was fine with the last version but with the latest one from the nvidia repo it came back.

So maybe this is a driver issue? Try the legacy diver instead of current.

Nvidia hates linux what can I say.

Hi, back after a long absence. Just tried unplugging and plugging in the HDMI cable but no change.

• Switch to another tty then come back ( say: Ctrl+Alt+F1 then Ctrl+Alt+F7 , or Ctrl+Alt+F1 then Alt+(left) Arrow )

Not sure what a tty is? EDIT: Figured that out but the keyboard isn't operational after it suspends/sleeps.

P.S. Though it wakes up with the other distro: Have a look if the monitor itself has a powersave setting (or so), if yes, disable that and try.

Checked that out (I have an ASUS 32" 1440P HDR Curved Monitor (VG32VQ) - QHD (2560 x 1440), 144Hz,) but no power saving setting.
