I agree with this. You and your husband need to make a list of every event that happens in your house and your vicinity between 8:45 pm and 9:00 pm, no matter how innocuous, that occurs in your house and your vicinity to see if we can isolate the source.

The one thing that stands out from the two QSIs is that your wifi card is the newer AC type and his is the older B/G/N type. Maybe your router isn't as backward compatible as they claim and that swapping out his card for the AC type is the solution after all. It's really easy to install an internal wifi card in a desktop and there are plenty of videos available on YouTube that will show you how.

In this case, a like for like replacement is the better option because if the problem repeats with a new, known good card and there are no external factors in play, we will know that there are bigger issues with his desktop than just a bad wifi card.

I can't afford to keep buying things and sending them back, so I'd like to try and get it right first time.

I would still ask "why 21 o'clock" (and "till when").

If it was intermittently / random and bad / loose connection in other times when connected, then of course I wouldn't think 1 sec. and order a dongle or a card ...

I'm thinking that the 9pm ish time (it's never exact) is to do with the RAM as said before.

I just thought of something else that happens at that time. We use the baby monitor for our daughter. Could the frequency affect my husband's wifi?
