MX-15 - favorite KDE tweaks

This is falling together nicely. Did all the fonts tweaks in the docs (thanks Joany) and got my appearance niggles lined out.

Sound and video in my browser worked OOtB without any intervention required. I always go here to test that:

One more thing I'd like to figure out and I'll call it an evening...

In Dolphin, on right click, I don't have Copy To or Move To options. (I do have that in Root Actions, having added the root-actions-servicemenu earlier).

Let's see if I can beat Tim this time, you have to check that as enabled in Dolphin's Settings/Dolphin Preferences/Services. Don't ask me why it's off by default.

That did it. You da man too. Now that you pointed that out, it seemed familiar. I suspect I've been there before, but my CRS is getting worse the older I get.

In the meantime, I've managed to really screw up the window backgrounds and text colors to the point where it had everything messed up and unreadable. Just renamed .kde and will be starting over with my tweaks. Not a big deal. But I'm going to give this a rest and root for Sparty.

Back in my old comfortable M11 for now. But I did get MX15 straightened up pretty well. One thing I noticed was that the light text in tooltips problem that arjaybe first brought up was NOT evident until after I did the antialiasing and DPI adjustments from Joany's MX14 recommendations. Just a data point.

I also got an audio crash and lost sound in YouTube. That's when I bailed on the MX-15 for the evening. <sigh>

We're working on a fix for the pulseaudio crashes. I've haven't had one myself since upgrading to pulseaudio 7.1 (jessie-backports or the test repo).

You can turn on the KDE login and logout sounds in the SystemSettings/System Notification Configuration/Manage Notifications/KDE Workspace tab, editing the Logout and Login entries. You're also able to preview the sound file in there--maybe I'll set that to the xfce4 MX 15 login sound file.

I know, this is for MX-14.4 32 bit for KDE4.8 but every little bit helps to get you going, KDE4 can be overwhelming.

Got the tooltips sorted. Set the colors to white on black. Didn't work before - maybe adding those GTK packages helped. I'm using Oxygen style and default colors.

Highlighted files still disappearing on mouseover. And preview never shows - just spinning balls.

If installed with a metapackage such as kde-standard in the package installer, KDE will be seen as automatically removable if you later uninstall some package (such as Juk or Kmail) that the metapackage pulled in (i.e., uninstalling juk in Synaptic will also remove the kde-standard metapackage)

To unmark KDE as automatically installed, run

I've made a combo xfce4-KDE desktop snapshot iso. It came out to be around 1.2 GB. The Live ISO boots straight to the xfce4 desktop as usual, but then you can log out and then log back into KDE. Everything comes up with the standard Oxygen theming, colors, and icons, but the tooltips come up with white text on a dark background, and I did install a few more styles and window decorations, along with K3b. I also removed Juk and Kmail.

The only fly in the ointment seems to be the clock in the panel is white text on a white background, but that's simple to fix with a dark theme or by adjusting the color of the clock's text.

Code "sudo aptitude unmarkauto '~skde'" or code "su -c 'aptitude unmarkauto '~skde''does not work for me. apt-get purgre Juk wants to remove kde-standart also.

Any suggestions?
