Irrational prejudice because of my introduction to it with Ubuntu many years ago @2004-5. The thought of having anything reminiscent of 'buntu on my box makes my skin crawl and blood pressure go up (not really but it feels like that). ;)
I react the same way to Windows.
Tell me about it! There be no Winders here for many years.

I keep one around for reference, since I make my pocket money fixin' 'em.

But for my use??? Not for about seven or eight years for me.

Regret to report that the Nvidia Installer grabbed and installed the incorrect driver(319.xx instead of the correct 304.xx) and someone was too oblivious too notice in time to stop it. Will try to reinstall tomorrow.

http://packages.debian.org/sid/nvidia-l ... 4xx-driver

Code: Select all

VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation C68 [GeForce 7050 PV / nForce 630a] (rev a2)
Posting from Puppy Raring running 304.88......

Was able to get back into Nouveau and purge 319.xx....... really didn't have time to reinstall.

I despise booting to a blinking cursor........

Were you using smxi or sgfxi to get the nvidia drivers?

Yeah, I already posted that the Nvidia Installer that beta2 comes with will install the incorrect driver for GeForce 6xxx/7xxx cards, the post is here: http://forum.mepiscommunity.org/viewtop ... 38#p328938.

There's a command in that post that will download an updated version of the installer.

The updated version should now detect and install the 304xx driver for 6xxx/7xxx cards.

The update also worked for Eadwine Rose with her GT 640 card which had previously been reported as unsupported.

Anticapitalista tried it, and it worked (or I should say still works) with his GeForce 8400 GS card.

I would appreciate it if you would try the updated installer, because no 6xxx/7xxx user has tried it yet. It can be tested in a Live session.

I've just finished building Deadbeef 0.6.1 for the M12 CR, and noticed it comes in at a smaller installed size than 0.6.0 (7.2 MB vs 8.4), but everything still is working. That should free up several hundred K on the CD.

Packages are here for quick testing: http://ubuntuone.com/1OAYuNHmAeO2EE89FWleR9

Looks like we will be moving to your Clementine instead at this point--but I will love DeaDBeeF and wonder if it might make a candidate for antiX at some point.

@Stevo

Does the new deadbeef play streaming .pls files?

What is weird for me is that deadbeef streams .pls OK live. But after install. of MX14 to hard drive. It no longer streams internet radio.
I get my stations from http://loudcity.com/

Anyhows. After a hard drive install. I uninstall Deadbeef becuase of this issue and go with xmms and xmms with antiX goodies.

So I am just wondering if I am the only one seeing this in deadbeef? I download the winamp link which is a .pls because cmus or moc can handle this also.
