2. install libreoffice-kf5 if not present already (wasn't on my system).
3. remove the ~/.config/plasma-workspace/libreoffice-theme.sh
4. logout, login in.
I was not able to install it. It failed in the terminal with sudo apt install libreoffice-kf5, so then I tried in the mx package installer with install recommended packages and I got the same output, which I've pasted below.

Code: Select all

Reading package lists...
Building dependency tree...
Reading state information...
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libreoffice-kf5 : Depends: libreoffice-core (= 4:7.4.7-1+deb12u5) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libreoffice-qt5 (= 4:7.4.7-1+deb12u5) but it is not going to be installed

I'm trying to figure out what you did to break the theme, if it was that file or something else that's not related
Yes. I put the file back last night and libreoffice returned to looking how it should, but of course it had the basic libreoffice picker.

I can't think of anything I've done with theming on the machine.

KDE is running breeze default themes. I have not done anything with kvantum. I don't have the qt5 config tool installed as I have not installed it and I don't believe it comes with mx kde.

install libreoffice-kf5 if not present already (wasn't on my system)
remove the ~/.config/plasma-workspace/libreoffice-theme.sh

those steps worked for version 4.7 stable.

It appears that your system tried to install a version 4.7 package while you are running version 4.24 backports.

If You’re running the backports version of libreoffice then you’ll need to install the package from backports

lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 - MX-23
FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

YOU THE MAN !! :yourock:

That worked.

As you have no doubt figured out by now I am no linux guru. It never even occurred to me to search backports for the package. I don't even normally use backports. I just upgraded libreoffice via backports before starting this thread in case that fixed the file picker.

But once I installed the backports version, and removed that config file from the /env directory and rebooted, I got the dolphin file picker in libreoffice. Superb. Thanks.

I sent mxlinux $80 dollars last night as a thanks for mxlinux and also the support I was getting in this thread. Many thanks.

well thanks for the contribution!

FYI adrian has added the libreoffice-kf5 package to our build lists for the next release (presumably 23.5 sometime in the future).

MX is an amazing OS. I should have switched to it years ago.

I recently bought a new laptop. I used the mx snapshot tool to make a usb of this system that I'm currently using, and then used the usb drive to to put mx on the new laptop. It was so easy. That's an amazing tool, and as far as I know no other OS has anything like it. It saved me loads of setup time. Once the installer was done that was it - nothing more to do.

Once I get a fix for something I stick it in a folder I have full of txt files, in case I need it again. That's where this information is going, in case the same thing happens to me again before your new release fixes the problem.

Thanks again.

dolphin_oracle wrote: Wed Sep 18, 2024 6:31 pm ok here's my latest.

1. install libreoffice-plasma if not present already.
2. install libreoffice-kf5 if not present already (wasn't on my system).
3. remove the ~/.config/plasma-workspace/libreoffice-theme.sh
4. logout, login in.

from what I can tell, libreoffice-kf5 must be installed for the KDE file dialog to show up, and the override in libreoffice-theme.sh must be removed.

this works on my home system.

**edit*** only libreoffice-kf5 is required for the dialog, but I don't know what else libreoffice-plasma does so best leave it installed.
OK, checking on a fresh MX-23.4 Kde, also checking whether something need adjusted with MXPI->LO backports instller:

* libreoffice-plasma is preinstalled
* libreoffice-kf5 was not installed
* The file libreoffice-theme.sh, is available under

Code: Select all

 ~/.config/plasma-workspace/env/libreoffice-theme.sh
(Note the /env/- subdir under plasma-workspace) with content:

Code: Select all

export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=qt5
which newly created users got from /etc/skel:

Code: Select all

/etc/skel/.config/plasma-workspace/env/libreoffice-theme.sh
Now upgrading to LO-backports version using MXPI->Office->LO (backports),
will upgrade all need files including libreoffice-kf5, but only if has been installed allready.
OK, nothing to change here within MXPI->Office->LO (backports).

So what, needs to be done, I guess:
* install libreoffice-kf5,
* remove libreoffice-theme.sh and from both /etc/skel and users .config-path.

So we could adjust /etc/skel for MX-KDE through a package.
But , note sure how we can adjust exiting libreoffice-theme.sh within user home.
