Code: Select all

#ahs hardware stack repo
#deb http://mirrors.rit.edu/mxlinux/mx-packages/mx/repo/ bookworm ahs
The "#" at the start of a line means that it's disabled, so you don't have the AHS section enabled.
You can easily enable it using MX Repo Manager. It's a good idea to get your firmware upgraded from AHS if you also plan on using a new kernel. Firmware packages are also backwards-compatible with older kernels.

The babeltrace errors you are getting is because the updated version is only in the AHS repo and the kernel needs it. I also advise to use "apt install" instead of the less effective "dpkg -i" commands. If you are using Thunar or Dolphin for file managers, we also add right-click GUI actions to install one or more deb files that use apt, so you really don't need to use the terminal at all in those cases.
MXPI = MX Package Installer
QSI = Quick System Info from menu
The MX Test repository is mostly backports; not the same as Debian testing

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong - it appears to have been enabled in MX Repo Master ...

"sudo apt install -f" should try to install the missing packages, but read the prompts before you accept any proposed solution...

I ran Refresh List in MX Package Installer and it returned only "strawberry" as needing upgrading.

This is the output ... in case it helps ...

How does it know what to install if I don't specify a package name, please?

That command tells apt to 'fix dependencies'. You have other issues though. Can you try what Stevo suggested and remove the'#' from the mx.list file.
It might be overriding the repo manager setting

OK, this

Code: Select all

apt --fix-broken install
fixed things so then right-clicking on two deb files they ran OK.

OK, I was thinking the # was for a text header to the following string, sigh.

So, it should look like this?
mx_list2.jpg
EDIT: I don't know why it's showing both images - only one attachment is in the code.
