MXFBPi Beta 2 testing
Re: MXFBPi Beta 2 testing
Thanks, very helpful.
1) Did you see/use the keyboard icon at the top right of the login screen? I could move that to the middle...
2) In Fluxbox the keyboard is traditionally changed with the rootMenu: right-click desktop > Settings > Keyboard.
3) If you use RPi Config to set locale, does that change the keyboard? If yes, then I can get rid of the clunky Fluxbox method altogether.
It would be nice to have that automated...will look into that for Final

Re: MXFBPi Beta 2 testing
how fragile are some of these changes? If we push an update to some package to the repos, are your changes going to get nuked? what about the reset functions in mx-tweak and mx-fluxbox install script? running those on b1 wipes out the defaults as currently set for the pi.
I don't normally worry too much about respins and what happens during updates, but I think some extra care may be warranted for this one.

Re: MXFBPi Beta 2 testing
Good question, and important. I don't have a ready answer but will add it to the Big issues list.

Jerry, I'm just throwing together a 'first steps' guide; it will show how to set those thing from the Rapsi config.Jerry3904 wrote: Mon Feb 01, 2021 8:48 am Thanks, very helpful.

Re: MXFBPi Beta 2 testing
As can be seen, each element of the Pi config is dealt with separately.
(Jerry, I'm fine if you don't use this. Feel free to hack it around.)

Re: MXFBPi Beta 2 testing
Thanks, Chris! I
documentation...
BTW, this project may be getting some (wobbly) legs:
1) SF downloads at 741 this morning--don't know really how to judge, but that seems pretty decent
2) the Intro vid has been viewed by some 2,500 unique viewers YT says, only 5% are subscribers
3) US percentage dropped to 23%, UK, Germany and Spain in top 4

Re: MXFBPi Beta 2 testing
@dolphin_oracle If those 2 reset buttons backup the existing and repopulate from skel I would think we would be OK. Will test.

Re: MXFBPi Beta 2 testing
Hey, I have a solution for the headphone issue after snooping around some more! When I log in and I get that service not available message, I can run this command to get it to reconnect to the audio sink:There is a place on the blueman Headphones plugin for a command, and I'm going to try putting it there.
EDIT: no, that made no difference. But running the command works and I can link it to the audio sink,
I have an old BT keyboard that I going to test later, this may just be a Headphones issue.
Code: Select all
rm -r ~/.config/pulse; pulseaudio -k

Re: MXFBPi Beta 2 testing
I often transfer files from a remote machine on my network, with two instances of Thunar open. A progress box pops up during transfer. Until B2, this worked normally.
Now, that progress box is huge. After re-sizing it, the next time it opens it is huge again.
I wonder if this is related to the changes made to centre Thunar on opening? (I actually don't like this, because the two instances end up exactly on top of each other, but the way I use it may be atypical.)

Re: MXFBPi Beta 2 testing
Does it do the same with two tabs in a single Thunar instance?
Could you use FB's remember function?
BTW: you can rmove Th off dead center, right?
