with pulseaudio 7? if so, post the Exec line please.
Pulseaudio 7.1-2mx150+1

Great!
In pulse 7 the start command is different from pulse. It's actually the same as the non kde startup. IN pulse 5 it the command is start-pulseaudio-kde, but that isn't working right.

I don't have the -kde desktop file in there, just a pulseaudio.desktop that has that same Exec line:
Is that because the only tinkering I've done with pulseaudio is to backport and install the 7.1-2 version?

The only tinkering I have done is to enable pulse audio on startup via the System Settings > Startup and Shutdown.

I can't tell you that. However, I can say that pulseaudio 5 on your kde-snapshot has a pulseaudio-kde.desktop file that launches pulseaudio with the command
start-pulseaudio-kde
and there is a script by that name that is different than start-pulseaudio-x11. the kde version loads more modules.
Here I just changed the pulseaudio-kde.desktp file Exec= line to start-pulseaudio-x11 and my seemingly random pulse crashes have gone away. The debian change logs say they did away with start-pulseaudio-kde in version 5.99.

Stevo wrote:I had some similar problems with pulseaudio in KDE at first, but they went away when I upgraded pulseaudio from the test repo to 7.1-2 (the same version as in jessie-backports). Could you give that a try? ........
I did the above and that seems to have quickly ended the sound/audio troubles I was having. I hope sound remains sound for me and I hope that others using KDE with MX-15 can use the same method if having unsound sound.
Thanks to all who have had an interest in this thread and to those making comments here.

Does anyone have any objections to moving the new pulseaudio to main?

Maybe post about pulse 7 outside of the kde area?
