Code: Select all

root@eadwineMX23:/home/eadwine# update-alternatives --config x-www-browser
Been around the block with browser issues. ;)

So.. of course.

Code: Select all

eadwine@eadwineMX23:~
$ xdg-settings get default-web-browser
vivaldi.desktop

You'd know if that wasn't set to vivaldi ;) Something else would open.

Just checking because on clean fluxbox installs, when I install LibreWolf, MX Viewer is still my default browser until I make some changes to correct it.
This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

Yeah.. which is why many many years ago I found those update-alternatives somewhere and have been doing them ever since on every fresh install. I was bitten by the same thing way back when.

Just ran into this one: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/107785/ ... und-option

Such a bummer that that one extension doesn't work.

Although I love Vivaldi to death, I've also found over the years that the devs are less than responsive when they are asked to fix a bug, or make an enhancement in general.

I think the features I love best about Vivaldi are:
Proton VPN
Integrated mail client
uBlock Origin Lite (better IMHO than uBlock Origin)

Since it ticks all those boxes for me, I tend not to worry as much about features I don't use - to each their own, for sure. The only "con" I've found was the extended outage earlier this year syncing tabs across Vivaldi instances on multiple devices - boy, that was annoying!

In any case, I keep Firefox handy as a "backup" in case Vivaldi goes wonky for an extended period - I guess I'm just "backup-obsessed" (if you read my signature).

Yeah.. I have Firefox as well, so I won't be left hanging, so to speak

Mind.. Vivaldi does get updates fairly regularly, so I guess they are doing -something-. Just not that ;)
